Enron
Center South
Houston, Texas
Architect: Cesar
Pelli & Associates
Project Overview
The project involved the assessment, on-site design, procurement
and project management of the Audio/Visual and video applications
that support the Trading, IT and management floors in the new Enron
Center South. The project began in February 2001 and continued until
Enron quit trading in December 2001. Over the course of the fall,
over 1000 traders and support staff had moved into and begun using
the facilities. During the majority of this time Trilliant was on-site
full time (or more).
Assessment and Proof of Concept Studies
Trilliant also performed research and feasibility studies with regard
to systems being proposed for use in the facilities:
Performed extensive research and conducted meetings
with manufacturer's representatives and Enron personnel into an
analog videoconferencing system - AVISTAR. Trilliant reviewed system
functionality, the financial viability and stock market reports
regarding the company and composed a report outlining the strengths
and weaknesses of the product. Eventually, Trilliant developed a
specification, solicited and reviewed a bid from the manufacturer
and supervised the installation of an AVISTAR system into the infrastructure
of the new facilities.
Performed Extensive research and conducted meetings
with several manufacturer's representatives and software developers
as well as Enron personnel and other consultants to determine the
efficacy of various Wallboard Display Systems currently on the market.
Performed research and met with several manufacturer's
representatives to identify potential solutions for a large "video
wall in a lobby area of the new facility.

Design, Procurement and Project Management
Over the course of this assignment Trilliant's responsibilities encompassed
acting as a liaison between architects, engineers, facilities managers,
contractors and clients to install video display and videoconferencing
equipment into the podium level of the new Enron Center South Building.
This included everything from designing and specifying system components
and overall systems, to soliciting and evaluating proposals, to discovering
and implementing new and emerging technologies, to coordinating the delivery
and installation of delicate materials and equipment, to arbitrating conflicts
between trades who ultimately would depend upon each other for the success
of their respective projects. During the course of the project, our team
was responsible for the development, equipping / furnishing and installation
management of almost all of the information technology and information
display systems in four podium-level floors and one administrative floor
that included well over 100,000 square feet of high-end corporate space
in downtown Houston, Texas.
Trilliant specified, put out to bid and/or supervised
the installations of the following systems and ancillary components:
Managed the installation of over 275 computer-controlled
overhead and wall-mounted plasma display systems on trader floors and
in videoconference rooms, commons areas and executive offices.
Specified and worked with the architects to
proof cabinet and millwork in which to mount these systems.
Assured Network Cabling and Data Network Connectivity
to support these systems. Many times, this activity occurred during system
cutover during the day or the evening before floors were to "go live."
Specified and supervised the installation of
a radio-synchronized system of clocks distributed throughout the floors.
Specified, configured and supervised the installation
of two large Accord Gateway/Multi-point Conference Units that would be
used in tandem to support upwards of 72 simultaneous worldwide videoconferencing
sessions.
Supervised the installation of a desktop-based
analog videoconferencing system that functioned as a "video telephone"
for approximately 75 users.
Developed specifications, qualified vendors
and solicited bids for equipment and installation of twelve fully functional,
high-end videoconferencing rooms.
Worked with the in-house videoconferencing staff
to develop and implement a uniform standard for equipment and support
to be offered for VC activities at Enron.
Trilliant installed and configured several executive
office level videoconferencing systems.
