New Tulsa Heart Hospital of Saint Francis to be Benchmark Facility

Tulsa, OK – The new Tulsa Heart Hospital of Saint Francis in Tulsa, Oklahoma, will provide a superb facility for advanced heart-related procedures. The project, designed by Collins Reisenbichler Architects and managed by Staubach, both of Dallas, Texas, is not only planning current needs, but also anticipating future technological advancements.

The new multi-story facility will include a 141,000 sq. ft. hospital and a 50,000 sq. ft. medical office building, and will be located at the northwest corner of East 91st Street South and US Hwy 169 in Tulsa, on approximately 16 acres. In addition to the numerous amenities found in a contemporary medical care facility, the hospital will include three to four state-of-the-art surgical suites designed specifically for cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, as well as the latest systems for infection control. The medical office building will include a 9,000 sq. ft. catheterization laboratory and support spaces for advanced catheter based procedures.

The hospital desires to implement a fully functioning and integrated wireless/paperless system. The facility will utilize seamless data integration that combines applications for finance/billing, inventory/materials management, imaging, telemetry and archiving, order entry and medical records.

To ensure that the technology and the systems are reliable and scalable, Staubach has retained Trilliant Technology Group of Houston, Texas, as the technology consultant for the project. Trilliant will evaluate current communication technologies that best suit the needs of the facility, and will also analyze trends to determine which new and emerging technology should be anticipated. A robust infrastructure that can support a variety of voice, data, nurse call, closed-circuit television, cable and Internet applications will add greatly to the sustainability of the new facility.

“Today’s medical facilities are rife with technology,” states Bill Koehler, President of Trilliant Technology Group, “but the challenge is to provide a facility that will support the implementation of the latest technologies as they become available. This flexibility is what keeps a facility sustainable for the future, which is especially critical when dealing with the emerging technologies in the field of medical care.

Although the infrastructure of this building is important, it’s the systems and applications that make this project unique and exciting.”

Ground breaking for the new Tulsa Heart Hospital of Saint Francis is scheduled October 2002, with estimated completion in January of 2004.
